Indian Startup News on Instagram: "Sarvam AI co-founder Dr. Vivek Raghavan warned that India risks becoming a "digital colony" if it continues to depend on foreign AI technologies.

Speaking at The Scindia School's 129th Founder's Day event in Gwalior, Raghavan stressed the need for India to develop its own foundational AI models, computing infrastructure and data capabilities.

Addressing students, he said, "You are not the future of this country. You are its present," urging them to take responsibility for India's technological future.

Drawing on more than a decade of volunteering on the Aadhaar project, Raghavan highlighted India's ability to build technology at population scale.

He envisioned AI developed "by Indians, for India, and then for the world," with affordable solutions for education, healthcare, banking and public services.

He also emphasised AI accessibility in Indian languages and called for continuous reskilling and safeguards against fraud, misinformation and security threats.
