Japanese researchers have built a robotic “artificial mouth” that can generate speech in a surprisingly human way. Instead of using a speaker, it produces sound by moving air through physical structures, similar to how people form voices. Soft silicone parts then shift and flex to shape the airflow into different vowels and tones. In demonstrations, it forms an “O” sound with mouth movements that look and sound strikingly lifelike, which is exactly why many people find it a little uncanny. #robots #tech #artificialintelligence #ai #robot
