Blockit AI, a startup founded by Kais Khimji, a former partner at US-based venture capital (VC) firm Sequoia, has raised $5 million in a seed funding round, the company said on Friday.

The round was led by Pat Grady of Sequoia. Other investors include San Francisco-based early-stage venture fund Haystack; Adjacent, which focuses on next-generation technology startups; and Original, an investment firm supporting early- and growth-stage companies. Jeff Weiner, former CEO of LinkedIn, also participated in the round.

Blockit AI is an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered scheduling agent. In a LinkedIn post, Khimji said the idea for the product had been on his mind for nearly a decade. He joined Sequoia in 2019 and stepped back from the firm in 2024 to build his own startup.

The startup is co-founded by John Han, who has previously worked with companies including Google, Clockwise, and Retool. Han brings more than a decade of experience in calendar systems and product management.

According to Khimji, Blockit AI functions as an intelligent calendar that schedules tasks by understanding context and managing complex workflows.

The app is offered free for the first 30 days, after which it is priced at $1,000 per year for individual users and $5,000 per year for a multi-user team licence.
