THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
EdMe AI, state’s first AI-based learning platform, had accurately identified relevant topics in advance that appeared in UPSC prelims exams in May 2026, through extensive analysis of newspapers and previous years’ question papers with their proprietary AI model.
EdMe AI predicted 85% of the current affairs-related question topics that appeared in UPSC Prelims exam conducted on May 24 2026.
According to EdMe AI, its goal is not to provide shortcuts for exams. Instead, the platform helps the candidates identify important themes more effectively, develop deeper conceptual understanding and study in a structured and intelligent manner.
Started by Simeon Samuel and Thejas Sushil, alumni of the College of Engineering Trivandrum, the startup was initially supported by the Kerala Startup Mission and has since grown into a six-member team.
With a recall rate of 85%, 63 out of 74 current-affairs-linked question topics in UPSC Prelims GS Paper 1 were predicted correctly by EdMe AI. Of these, 34 were direct matches, while nearly 30 were identified through related themes and concepts the platform had highlighted in advance.
EdMe AI trained an AI model that analysed more than 1.5 million current affairs articles from 2011-2019 and back-tested it by asking it to predict 6 years of UPSC previous year questions from 2020 to 2025 and got a 62.6% average recall.
“Our objective was neither to create a shortcut to crack UPSC examination nor encourage peripheral learning. We wanted to help candidates identify topics that requires in-depth attention and solidify basic concepts,” said Simeon.
“EdMe AI assessed that the Prelims examination may be far more pattern-driven,” he noted.
The model identified 266 high-probability topics, supported by 792 multiple choice questions with distractors, answers and detailed explanations.
Some of the topics that the AI based startup predicted that appeared in the prelims were National Quantum Mission (T-Hub Structure), Deep Ocean Mission, Green Hydrogen: electrolysis process, Stealth Aviation Technology, UPI and Digital Rupee: CBDC architecture and payments, Rare Earth Elements: India’s mineral strategy and blocks, Vizhinjam Port, Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) and Drone swarms and defence applications.
The platform covered each prediction comprehensively by including topic overview, important points, revision notes, contextual background, comparisons with related topics relevance to the examination and more.
The platform has more than 5,000 active users.
