The company announced the funding on June 19.

Specx develops hyperspectral imaging technology that precisely analyzes wavelength data from light. The startup has built an end-to-end platform covering satellite observation data acquisition, processing, and analysis.

Jeju Center for Creative Economy & Innovation first discovered Specx through its 2024 Pre-Startup Package program. The center, together with MYSC, then made Specx the inaugural investment of their jointly managed Jeju Early-Stage Startup Fund. Following the center’s recommendation, Specx won selection for the Deep Tech TIPS program, securing KRW 1.5 billion (approximately $1.1 million) in R&D funding to commercialize its hyperspectral technology.

“Specx exemplifies the Jeju model for deep-tech startup growth—from discovery through our pre-startup package to our first investment, Deep Tech TIPS selection, and now private follow-on funding,” said Lee Byung-sun, CEO of Jeju Center for Creative Economy & Innovation. “We will continue strengthening our support in investment, technology commercialization, and follow-on funding connections to help promising startups grow beyond the region into global markets.”
