Amit Sharma, Chief Technology Officer of Dream Sports, is leaving the company after a decade-long stint to start an AI venture.
Sharma joined Dream Sports in 2016 after spending more than a decade in the US, including roles at Netflix and Yahoo. During his tenure, he helped scale the company’s technology operations and engineering team as Dream11 grew into one of India’s largest sports-tech platforms.
His departure comes amid a restructuring at Dream Sports. Last year, the company split its operations into multiple business units, with Sharma taking charge of the AI-focused division, Dream Sports AI, as its founder and CEO.
The exit also follows the shutdown of Dream Play, the company’s AI-powered sports performance analytics app, and the winding down of fintech platform Dream Money. Both businesses were part of Dream Sports’ diversification efforts beyond fantasy gaming.
In a LinkedIn post, Sharma said he was moving on to his “next adventure” after ten years at the company. He noted that Dream Sports had expanded its technology team from around 20 members when he joined to more than 600 employees over the years.
Founded by Harsh Jain and Bhavit Sheth, Dream Sports was last valued at $8 billion in 2021. The company has been reshaping its business following regulatory challenges faced by India’s real-money gaming industry.
Last week, Dream Sports chief marketing officer Vikrant Mudaliar also left the company after an eight-year stint.
