The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has opened registrations for an intensive entrepreneurship programme aimed at supporting innovators looking to build businesses in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Hosted by the Wadhwani School of Data Science and AI (WSAI) the five-day residential programme will take place from August 10 to 14, 2026 with applications closing on July 27.
Designed for aspiring founders and technology professionals, the bootcamp will combine expert mentoring with practical learning to help participants convert AI-driven ideas into commercially viable ventures. The programme will cover the complete startup journey—from validating an idea and understanding customer requirements to developing an MVP, creating a sustainable business strategy, and preparing to secure investment.
Applications are open to a diverse group of participants, including final-year BTech, MTech, and PhD students, faculty members, researchers, engineers, product managers, aspiring entrepreneurs, and founders of early-stage startups exploring opportunities in the field of Artificial Intelligence.
One of the key highlights of the programme will be its closing Pitch Day, where participants will present their business concepts before investors and industry leaders. The startup judged to have the strongest potential will receive ₹4 lakh in seed support to advance its idea. Participants will also benefit from expert feedback and networking opportunities with entrepreneurs and investors.

The programme will be mentored by Lakshmi Shankar, General Partner at Together Fund and former Vice President of Google Search Drawing on his experience at companies including Twitter, IBM, and EY, he will guide participants through the challenges of building and scaling technology startups.
In addition to classroom sessions, attendees will engage with startup founders, investors, and business experts to gain insights into product-market fit, fundraising, revenue generation, customer acquisition, investment negotiations, and business expansion. Through this initiative, IIT Madras seeks to strengthen India’s AI startup ecosystem by equipping innovators with the knowledge, mentorship, and industry exposure needed to transform promising ideas into successful enterprises.
