Best in Tech winner Heidi has banked US$340 million (A$475m) in new funding, including a $140m Series C, less than a fortnight after the Melbourne clinical notes taker was named Scaleup of the Year and AI Gamechanger at the Startup Daily awards.
Blackbird led the US$100m (A$140m) Series C, alongside existing investors Phoenix Court, Point72 Private Investments and Headline.
The round values Heidi at A$1.26bn, nearly double its $703m valuation in less than 12 months, following a $98m Series B in October 2025.
General Catalyst’s Customer Value Fund also led the separate US$240 million (A$335m) growth investment, which will support sales and expansion. That funding is essentially a debt facility for customer acquisition.
Headline also led a $27m top up to Heidi’s initial 2023 $10m Series A in March last year. Blackbird led 2021’s $5m Seed raise, when the startup was founded and known as Oscar.
It launched in February 2024, and has now been used in more than 20 million patient interactions, with strong adoption in the US, UK, Canada and Australia, and increasingly, the EU.
At the Best in Tech awards, chief medical officer Dr Simon Kos said the Melbourne startup gone global.
“Right now we’re in 190 countries, we’re in 110 languages and we’re doing 2.8 million notes a week, which makes us the world’s biggest scribe by volume,” he said.
“We are actually changing people’s lives. You’ve got clinicians that are able to see more patients.”
Heidi’s software records consultations and produces clinical notes. The funding will support AI agent development to complete tasks under clinical supervision, alongside clinical testing and regulatory submissions, although the UK and EU won’t be part of that plan.
The company says annual recurring revenue reached US$50m in April, up from US$1m two years ago.
In February, Heidi acquired UK AI healthcare platform Automedica for an undisclosed sum.
