HR tech startup Specter said on Tuesday it has officially launched Effy, a real-time AI interviewer.
Effy derives key factors to verify based on job postings (JD), desired talent profiles and required job competencies registered by companies. It automatically designs personalised questions reflecting applicants’ resume information. Interviews are conducted in real time and, for voice interviews, speech-to-text (STT) technology immediately converts and saves all answers as text. The average interview takes about 1 hour.
The interview does not repeat a fixed set of questions. If an applicant’s answer is ambiguous or lacks specifics, follow-up questions continue, and verification proceeds step by step by checking specific experiences and evidence when needed. On certain topics, questions and answers can continue up to 4 times, and the topic ends when the verification intent is met.
While existing AI interviews focused on analysing and scoring answers, Effy focuses on systematising question design and the verification structure itself. The company stressed that the core is not simple automated evaluation but providing structured evidence that HR can use to make judgments.
Yun Kyung-wook (윤경욱), Specter’s chief executive, said there was a dilemma in that improving interview quality required a lot of time, while improving efficiency made the depth of verification shallow. He said Effy is an AI interviewer system focused on reducing HR resources spent on interview preparation and organising results while keeping verification accuracy above a certain level.
