Gyeonggi-do Province and the Gyeonggi-do Economic and Science Accelerator held a Kickoff Day program to strengthen the capacity of Gyeonggi Technology Start-up Support Project and started to support the growth of technology start-ups in the province.

The event, held at the 2nd Pangyo Gyeonggi Startup Bridge on the 18th, was attended by more than 100 people, including representatives and officials of 70 startups in the province that were finally selected for this year’s Gyeonggi Technology Startup Support Project.

Starting this year, the Korea Research Institute will support a total of 70 companies by integrating three previously operated projects, including preliminary and early technology start-up support (40 companies), technology start-up re-challenge support (10 companies), and pet industry start-up support (20 companies).

Until now, each business has operated similar programs such as corporate diagnosis, education, consulting, and IR Demo Day, resulting in redundancy and inefficiency. In response, the Korea Research Institute reorganized the support system by integrating common programs and combining specialized programs for each business, such as re-challenging companies’ strategy to revive and respond to licensing and regulations in the pet industry.

The event was held with △ introduction of participants by support project △ introduction of capacity building program roadmap and annual schedule △ introduction of five key areas △ introduction of senior companies △ free networking between participants and 30-second collaborative speeches.

First, the progress agency introduced the operation direction and detailed schedule of the annual program and improved understanding of the overall support system in the future.

Kim Jae-hoon, director of Alpha Brothers, then gave a lecture on five key areas: market verification, growth hacking, business plan advancement, investment attraction strategy, and artificial intelligence utilization.

Jeong Seong-yeon, the operating director of the Gyeonggi Business Council, introduced the current status of the council’s operation and examples of cooperation between senior start-ups, emphasizing the importance of expanding the network among start-ups.

In the networking session, participating companies introduced business items and collaboration demands through 30-second collaborative speeches, seeking mutual exchange and cooperation.

Starting with this kick-off day, the Korea Research Institute plans to support the growth and investment attraction of startups in the province by running step-by-step programs such as corporate diagnosis, consulting, education, investment attraction capacity enhancement, IR demonstration day, and investment meet-up until November.

“This kick-off day is the first step in converting the individually operated technology start-up support project into an integrated growth support system,” said Yoo Dae-il, executive director of the corporate growth division of Kyung-won. “We will actively support start-up companies in the province to increase their competitiveness and lead to investment attraction and business expansion through customized support for each stage of growth.”
