Pune-based healthcare-tech startup CureMeAbroad has raised $1.1 million in a pre-seed funding round led by healthcare-focused venture capital fund SteerX Ventures.
Existing investor AIRA also participated in the round.
CureMeAbroad is a global healthcare platform that helps international patients discover, compare and book treatments at vetted hospitals abroad. The platform also provides healthcare provider verification, treatment estimates and assistance throughout the care journey.
The fresh capital will be used to expand the startup’s accredited hospital network, enter new patient source markets, strengthen its AI-powered technology and expand its operations and technology teams.
CureMeAbroad also plans to enter non-elective specialties such as orthopaedics and oncology and explore physical experience centres in key international markets.
CureMeAbroad Targets International Patients
Founded in June 2025 by Aditya Oza and Mikhail Bohra, CureMeAbroad brings together healthcare discovery, treatment planning, pricing transparency and patient assistance on a single platform.
International patients can use the platform to discover and compare hospitals, verify healthcare providers, obtain treatment estimates and book medical care across different destinations.
The startup currently attracts more than 22,500 visitors every month and has built a hospital network across six countries.
Its key patient source markets include the US, UK, Australia and Canada.
Fresh Funding to Support Expansion
The latest $1.1 million round comes a few months after CureMeAbroad raised $600,000 in April this year.
The earlier round saw participation from Roman Saini, Himanshu Ratnoo, Kunal Gupta, Devaiah Bopanna, Vikrant Potnis and AIRA.
With the latest capital, CureMeAbroad plans to increase the number of hospitals available through its platform while entering additional patient source markets.
The company will also invest in its AI-powered technology and strengthen its operations and technology teams as it scales.
Beyond elective treatments, CureMeAbroad plans to expand into specialties such as orthopaedics and oncology. It is also exploring physical experience centres in important international markets to support patients beyond its digital platform.
Targeting $100 Million in Patient Bookings
CureMeAbroad is targeting $100 million in annual patient treatment bookings by FY2028.
The company currently has an annual booking run rate of $4.8 million.
Its growth strategy is centred on expanding its international patient base, increasing its hospital network and making the process of finding and booking overseas healthcare more transparent.
The startup has also received Medical Travel Facilitator Certification from Global Healthcare Accreditation. According to Global Healthcare Accreditation, CureMeAbroad’s network covers more than 400 accredited hospitals across six countries.
Competition in Medical Tourism
CureMeAbroad operates in the growing medical tourism and international healthcare facilitation space.
Its competitors include Bookimed, PlacidWay, The Medical Tourism Company and Medical Departures.
In India, Vaidam Health is another medical tourism platform that helps international patients discover hospitals and treatment options.
CureMeAbroad is looking to differentiate itself by combining hospital discovery and verification with treatment planning, pricing information, booking and patient assistance.
As the company expands its hospital network, patient source markets and technology capabilities, it plans to build a broader platform for international patients seeking treatment outside their home countries.
