OBSESS Raises Angel Funding to Build India’s Unified Fitness and Sports Ecosystem - Indian Startup Times

Delhi NCR-based fitness and sports technology startup OBSESS has raised angel funding to develop a unified digital ecosystem for India’s fitness and sports industry. The company aims to bring together consumers, service providers and businesses across fitness, sports, nutrition and wellness through an integrated platform.

The funding round saw participation from angel investors, including Pushpendra Singh, Co-founder of Centricity; Amitt Goel, Angel Investor; and Harshit Vij, Co-founder of Freecultr. The company has not disclosed the financial details of the round.

Founded in 2026 by Tushar Sharma and Yash Kumar, OBSESS is addressing the fragmented nature of India’s fitness market by building a platform that connects multiple services and experiences under one ecosystem.

Addressing Fragmentation in the Fitness Industry

As fitness increasingly becomes part of everyday lifestyles, consumer requirements are expanding beyond conventional gym memberships. People are exploring personal training, sports activities, nutrition, recovery and wellness services as part of their fitness routines.

However, these services often operate through separate platforms and channels, making discovery and access inconvenient for consumers. Similarly, gyms, trainers and sports venue operators frequently lack integrated digital tools to manage operations, connect with customers and expand their reach.

OBSESS aims to address these challenges by creating a connected platform that brings multiple parts of the fitness journey together.

Its proposed offering includes gym discovery and memberships, personal training, sports venue discovery and bookings, fitness products, nutrition and wellness services, and community-driven fitness experiences.

Building a Connected Platform for Consumers and Businesses

Rather than concentrating on a single fitness-related service, OBSESS is approaching the sector as an interconnected ecosystem.

The platform is designed to help consumers discover and access different fitness services while providing gyms, coaches, sports venue operators and other businesses with digital tools to manage their operations and reach potential customers.

Commenting on the company’s vision, Tushar Sharma, Founder and CEO of OBSESS, said the startup aims to build more than another fitness application by bringing different parts of the fitness journey together.

He highlighted the company’s objective of making fitness services easier to discover, access and experience while helping businesses across the ecosystem connect with more customers and grow.

Funding to Support Technology and Market Expansion

OBSESS plans to deploy the newly raised capital towards strengthening technology and product development, expanding its network of gyms, trainers and sports venues, improving user acquisition and strengthening operational capabilities.

The company will also focus on building partnerships across the fitness and wellness industry to increase the range of services available through its platform.

According to Yash Kumar, Co-founder of OBSESS, the opportunity extends beyond helping people locate gyms or book sports facilities. The company’s broader objective is to create a connected experience that supports consumers throughout their fitness journeys and brings service providers and businesses closer to their customers.

He added that the company wants to build a platform that becomes useful in everyday life and can scale alongside the changing needs of the fitness community.

Exploring AI-Powered Fitness Experiences

Alongside its integrated platform strategy, OBSESS is working towards incorporating artificial intelligence-driven capabilities into the fitness experience.

The planned capabilities are aimed at making workout planning, nutrition recommendations and personalisation more accessible to users.

The company’s longer-term roadmap also includes expansion into additional cities and connecting more consumers, service providers and businesses through a common digital platform.

India’s Evolving Fitness and Wellness Market

India’s fitness and wellness sector is gradually expanding beyond traditional gym-based experiences, with consumers showing interest in sports, nutrition, recovery and community-led activities.

However, fragmented service networks, limited discoverability and gaps in digital infrastructure continue to create challenges for consumers and businesses.

OBSESS sees an opportunity to build the technology and distribution layer connecting these different segments. Its long-term ambition is to establish a unified ecosystem where consumers can access services across their fitness journeys while businesses benefit from digital infrastructure, operational tools and opportunities for growth.

With its angel funding, the startup is looking to strengthen its platform and build partnerships as it works towards connecting India’s fitness and sports ecosystem.
