Deepak Rajan transformed a viral online workshop into Techmaghi, an edtech powerhouse blending hybrid learning, VR labs, and automotive training for practical skills. From his Byju’s stint and 3 lakh-subscriber YouTube channel Dr Drive, Deepak pivoted from COVID-era mental health focus—via Boomerang—to skill-building after one EV workshop drew over 8,000 students, kickstarting the venture.
Bootstrapped Roots and Record-Breaking Launch
A Kerala government college EEE grad, Deepak self-funded Techmaghi through workshop revenues, government grants like Startup India and Kerala Startup Mission, and recent ₹35-40 lakh raises. With a 40+ member team and strong operational leadership from Director & COO Jobin Thomas, TechMaghi continues to scale as a structured, multi-center hybrid training company. It clinched Asia Book of Records for Asia’s largest online program, evolving into internships, personalized courses, and two Kochi centers with automotive and VR labs—capped by representing India at Hong Kong’s Jaitex 2025.
The name “Techmaghi”—tech’s magician—captures innovative education magic.
Hybrid Differentiation in a Crowded Edtech Space
Unlike pure online plays, Techmaghi thrives on hybrid models starring industry experts and real-world labs, building trust via Deepak’s influencer cred. Byju’s sales lessons shaped a deliberate, slow-growth strategy: stable foundations over aggressive scaling, prioritizing quality outcomes amid funding crunches for Kerala breakout.

Southern India Takeover and Skill-First Future
Deepak envisions professional education shifting to skill-oriented hybrids, with Techmaghi targeting 15-20 offline centers across Southern India in three years. This calculated path ensures hands-on impact, empowering students for real careers in a job market craving practical expertise.
Techmaghi proves influencer grit plus targeted innovation redefines edtech for tomorrow’s workforce.
