At an age when most students are focused on board exams and college admissions, 17-year-old Imran Chaudhary from Jammu and Kashmir has built an artificial intelligence (AI) startup that has reached a valuation of Rs 5 crore in just six months.
A Class 12 student from Doongi village in Rajouri district, Imran, is the founder of Lagnever Technologies Private Limited, an EdTech startup that uses AI to make learning more accessible and personalised for students.
According to the company, its flagship product, Lagnever AI, has crossed 10,000 downloads since launch.
AI-POWERED LEARNING PLATFORM FOR STUDENTS
Lagnever AI offers a range of study tools designed to support classroom learning rather than replace teachers.
The app includes AI-powered study assistance, automatic note-making, quizzes, doubt-solving support, and career guidance. The platform aims to help students learn more efficiently while complementing traditional teaching methods.
Imran said his goal was to build a platform that could improve access to quality education, particularly for students who may not have access to premium learning resources.
BUILT WITH A 12-MEMBER TEAM
While Imran is the face of the startup, he credits its growth to his 12-member team.
He said growing up in a remote village with limited resources never stopped him from exploring technology. Instead, it motivated him to learn independently and work towards creating an educational platform that could benefit students across the country.
The startup is also attracting interest from investors, with Imran saying the company has been receiving multiple investment opportunities.
INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION
Imran’s work has also earned him recognition beyond India.
He has been selected for a prestigious global founders’ programme associated with BlackRock, where only 60 young entrepreneurs from around the world have been chosen.
The selection places him among a small group of emerging founders recognised for their innovation and entrepreneurial potential.
CHOOSING ENTREPRENEURSHIP ALONGSIDE ACADEMICS
Building a startup while studying has come with its own challenges.
Imran said that because he devoted significant time to developing the app, he scored 89% in Class 11. He expects to score around the same in his Class 12 board examinations.
However, he says he has no regrets.
According to Imran, he has identified the field he wants to pursue and has already started building a career in it. While academics remain important, he believes the practical skills he has developed through entrepreneurship have helped shape his future.
Imran’s journey highlights how young entrepreneurs are increasingly combining technology with education to solve real-world problems.
