From Traditional Tutoring to AI-Powered Learning: How Yolearn.AI's Kirti Prakash Mishra is Personalising Education for Every Student - Indian Startup Times

For decades, personalized tutoring has been considered the gold standard of education. Every parent wants individual attention for their child, yet for most families, quality one-on-one tutoring remains expensive and difficult to access. Kirti Prakash Mishra believes technology can finally bridge this gap—not by replacing teachers, but by making personalized learning available to every student.

As the Founder of Yolearn.AI, Mishra is building an AI-powered tutoring platform designed to deliver curriculum-specific, voice-based, and interactive learning experiences. In just over a year since its inception, Yolearn has attracted more than 2 lakh users, proving that students and educators are increasingly ready to embrace AI as a learning companion.

In an exclusive conversation with Indian Startup Times, Kirti Prakash Mishra shares the journey behind Yolearn, the challenges of building trust in AI-powered education, and why he believes the future classroom will combine the strengths of both technology and human teachers.

The Problem Started with Traditional Tutoring

Before founding Yolearn.AI, Mishra spent years observing one of India’s biggest education challenges—personalized tutoring simply doesn’t scale.

Hiring high-quality teachers for one-on-one learning is expensive, making personalized education inaccessible for millions of students. While the demand existed, the economics never worked.

His experience at Physics Wallah further strengthened this understanding. Working closely within India’s fast-growing edtech ecosystem helped him realize that although digital learning had expanded access, truly personalized learning remained an unsolved problem.

The breakthrough arrived in 2023 with the rapid advancement of generative AI, particularly large language models such as ChatGPT.

“What if every student could have access to a personal tutor anytime they needed one?” became the central question that eventually led to the birth of Yolearn.

The company officially launched in January 2025, with a clear mission of making AI-powered personalized learning affordable, scalable, and accessible.

Building an AI Tutor That Feels Like a Real Teacher

Unlike conventional AI chatbots that primarily rely on text conversations, Yolearn has focused on creating an experience that closely resembles learning with an actual teacher.

The platform combines natural voice conversations, interactive whiteboards, and curriculum-aligned learning to create an engaging educational environment.

Mishra explains that students don’t simply want answers—they want explanations, interaction, and guidance similar to what they receive inside a classroom.

This philosophy has shaped four core pillars of Yolearn’s product:

  • Voice-first conversational learning
  • Personalized tutoring tailored to individual students
  • Interactive teaching supported by digital whiteboards
  • Curriculum-specific content aligned with educational standards

Instead of offering generic AI responses, Yolearn.AI collaborates with publishers to integrate licensed educational content into the platform. This allows students to receive explanations that are not only accurate but also aligned with their school curriculum and examination requirements.

For Mishra, educational AI isn’t just about making information available—it is about delivering the right information in the right context.

Winning Trust Before Chasing Growth

In education, trust matters more than downloads.

Rather than spending heavily on paid marketing campaigns, Yolearn.AI has chosen a slower but more sustainable path by partnering with schools, coaching institutes, and educational organizations.

These partnerships help establish credibility with parents, teachers, and students—an essential factor when introducing AI into classrooms.

The strategy has worked remarkably well.

Although the company spent nearly a year refining its product in stealth mode, the last four months of public operations have seen rapid adoption. Today, Yolearn.AI serves more than 2 lakh users, with growth driven primarily through word-of-mouth and institutional partnerships instead of paid customer acquisition.

For Mishra, organic growth is not merely a marketing strategy—it is validation that the product is solving a genuine problem.

AI Will Not Replace Teachers—It Will Empower Them

One of the biggest concerns surrounding artificial intelligence is whether it will eventually replace educators.

Mishra doesn’t believe that future is likely.

Instead, he sees AI and teachers performing complementary roles.

AI can efficiently explain concepts, answer questions instantly, and provide students with unlimited practice whenever they need help. Human teachers, on the other hand, bring empathy, mentorship, motivation, and life lessons that technology cannot replicate.

He envisions classrooms where teachers are supported by AI assistants capable of continuing a student’s learning journey even after school hours.

Students receive immediate academic support whenever they are stuck, while teachers can dedicate more time to mentoring, critical thinking, creativity, and personal development.

In Mishra’s view, AI should amplify the impact of educators—not replace them.

The Biggest Challenge Isn’t Technology—It’s Mindset

While building sophisticated AI infrastructure is difficult, Mishra believes the toughest challenge lies elsewhere.

Parents have spent generations believing that learning requires a human tutor sitting beside a child.

Changing this perception takes time.

Introducing AI into education involves overcoming psychological barriers and helping families understand that technology can provide meaningful academic support without compromising learning quality.

However, Mishra remains optimistic.

As AI becomes increasingly integrated into everyday life, he believes acceptance will naturally grow. Once parents witness measurable improvements in their children’s learning outcomes, confidence in AI tutoring will strengthen.

Product, Distribution and Team: The Foundation for Growth

Yolearn.AI has already secured pre-seed funding, which Mishra attributes to three key strengths.

The first is a differentiated product built specifically for education rather than adapting a generic AI chatbot.

The second is an efficient distribution strategy powered by trusted educational partnerships.

The third is the team’s ability to execute quickly while continuously improving the learning experience.

With these foundations in place, the company is now preparing for its next growth phase and expects to raise a seed funding round within the next three to six months. The capital will be used to accelerate product innovation, strengthen AI capabilities, and expand into new markets.

Taking Indian Innovation Global

Although India remains Yolearn.AI’s primary market today, Mishra’s ambitions extend well beyond national boundaries.

The company is already exploring collaborations with publication houses in Egypt and evaluating opportunities to support multiple international curricula and languages.

The long-term vision is to build an AI tutoring platform that can serve students across geographies while adapting to local educational systems.

Rather than creating a one-size-fits-all solution, Yolearn aims to localize learning experiences for every market it enters.

Reimagining the Future of Education

For Kirti Prakash Mishra, the ultimate goal isn’t simply to build another edtech company.

He wants to redefine how students learn.

He imagines a future where every learner has access to instant, personalized academic support regardless of location or financial background. Teachers become more effective with AI assistance, students spend less time searching for help, and education becomes significantly more efficient.

With strong early traction, growing institutional partnerships, and a product designed specifically for modern classrooms, Yolearn is positioning itself at the intersection of artificial intelligence and education.

As AI continues to reshape industries around the world, Mishra believes education will be among the sectors transformed most profoundly—not by replacing human teachers, but by ensuring that every student has access to personalized learning whenever they need it.

For Yolearn, that future has already begun.
