A Melbourne sports tech startup using AI to deliver performance analysis for amateur players has scored a $3.5 million pre-Seed raise.
The round for Superstat was led by Blackbird, supported by Blinq founder Jarrod Webb, and Mindset Health’s founders, Alex and Chris Naoumidis.
Superstat was founded in May 2025 by Cordelia King, Sam Hung and Kai Bloomfield, a former AFL data analyst, and was selected for Startmate’s 2026 summer cohort.
The platform turns raw match footage into structured data automatically, generating player stats, event timelines and performance patterns.
They wanted to bring the analysis in elite sports to community clubs, junior programs and semi-professional teams, and following the raise, will move to Austin, USA.
Superstat already has customers there, and alongside its existing focus on basketball, has begun building models for NFL, volleyball, soccer and baseball.
Cordelia King said the company is now hiring a founding computer vision engineer and GTM partnerships expert marketing as it scales in the US.
“We’ve gone from an idea to more than 5,000 active users shipping daily improvements based on real coach feedback, and that pace is only accelerating,” she said.
“We’re growing the team to match it, as we make the move to Austin, Texas – the heartland of sport in the US, with a tech scene to match and, thanks to the University of Texas, a deep pool of technical talent right on our doorstep.”
