Special Lecture on “Spatial Real Estate Investment” by Professor Heo Taekwang

The Department of Big Data Startup Business at Changwon National University held its 2026 fall semester opening general meeting on September 11 under the theme of “Change and Communication for Growing Together for the Future,” with faculty members and students in attendance.

Moderated by Secretary General Koo Hyojeong, the meeting was organized to share the direction of academic management for the new semester, discuss the department’s development plans, and strengthen communication between faculty and students.

In her opening remarks, Secretary General Koo encouraged students’ passion for learning, urged everyone to take care of their health during the changing seasons, and asked for their active participation in new semester departmental activities. She also introduced the faculty members and the student council by grade, leading the event.

Department Chair Jeon Wisul stressed that in a rapidly changing industrial and job environment driven by advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies, universities must shift from degree-centered education to becoming hubs of lifelong learning.

Jeon stated, “Going forward, rather than graduating from university as quickly as possible, it will become increasingly important to return to university at the right time to acquire new knowledge and skills. We will establish curricula that will provide practical support for the lives and workplaces of adult learners.”

The faculty introduced the direction for each grade’s courses, including entrepreneurship investment attraction, commercial district and real estate investment strategies, stock investment, social media and online entrepreneurship, presentation skills, drone technology, business models, fundraising, customer satisfaction service, and management strategy.

Student council president Joo Seonghyeon said, “I believe learning is not simply a cost, but a worthwhile investment in one’s future. I hope all of you will achieve the goals you have set for yourselves, based on your passion and spirit of challenge.”

He added, “The student council will also work to foster communication and unity so that students can enjoy a more vibrant and pleasant school life.”

Following the opening general meeting, Professor Heo Taekwang delivered a special lecture on the topic of “Spatial Real Estate Investment”.

Professor Heo discussed the relationship between feng shui location and real estate value, the process of the creation, growth, maturity, and decline of commercial districts, and presented cases demonstrating geographical characteristics, such as Banwolsung Fortress and Hwangridangil in Gyeongju.

He explained, “A location considered favorable from a feng shui perspective does not necessarily mean the highest price, but it can support the stability and sustainability of real estate value. When evaluating spaces and commercial areas, one should comprehensively consider factors such as geographical features, transportation, living environments, and market trends.”

Department Chair Jeon Wisul emphasized, “This opening general meeting was a meaningful occasion for professors and students to share their goals for the new semester and encourage one another. We will continue to enhance the department’s educational competitiveness so that adult learners can study entrepreneurship, management, and digital technology through a field-oriented approach.”
