Finland Launches Eir Accelerator, a Dedicated Women’s Health Startup Program | Femtech Insider

Women’s Health Hub Finland has launched Eir Accelerator, a startup acceleration program dedicated to women’s health, based in Turku and open to founders from Finland, the Nordics, Europe, and beyond. The program brings together industry partners including Bayer, Organon, and Orion alongside a growing network of international investors and ecosystem organizations.

Eir will run structured six-month cohorts helping early-stage women’s health startups generate clinical evidence, navigate European and U.S. regulation, and build partnerships with pharma, hospital, and technology partners. The program covers the full spectrum of women’s health from reproductive health and endometriosis to menopause, maternal health, and AI.

“The accelerator will support startups from Finland, the Nordics, wider Europe, and beyond, becoming one of the first programs of its kind in the Nordic region,” said Anastasiya Markvarde, head of Eir Accelerator. “Finland has world-class healthcare expertise, but women’s health innovation is still underfunded and underserved.”

The investor network includes Innovestor, Inventure, and Voima Ventures from Finland alongside international funds including Angelini Ventures (Italy), Calm/Storm (Austria), Heal Capital (Germany), Verge HealthTech (Singapore), and Suncoast Ventures (U.S.). Jessica Federer, founder of The Women’s Health Fund, advises the program.

Turku is home to 50% of Finland’s pharmaceutical and diagnostics sector and more than 100 life science companies. Investment in women’s health could unlock an estimated €4.76 billion boost to Finland’s economy and €3.9 billion in additional exports annually, according to program organizers.

Applications are open on a rolling basis at eir-accelerator.com, with the first cohort launching November 18, 2026, alongside a side event at the Slush conference.
