A 26-year-old Pakistani-born entrepreneur, Sualeh Asif, has joined the ranks of global billionaires following the rapid rise of his artificial intelligence startup Cursor.
According to Forbes’ Billionaires List, Asif ranks 2,919 on the pristinee list with a real-time net worth of $1.3 billion.
He co-founded Cursor alongside fellow students from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The company develops an AI-powered coding assistant that helps software developers generate, edit, and optimize code using artificial intelligence.
Cursor has seen explosive growth, reaching a valuation of $29.3 billion after securing $2.3 billion in funding in a round co-led by venture capital firms Accel and Coatue Management. According to Forbes, each co-founder now holds an estimated net worth of about $1.3 billion.
The startup reports more than $1 billion in annualized revenue, making it one of the fastest-growing companies in the global AI sector. Millions of developers across roughly 50,000 enterprises including Nvidia, Adobe, Uber, and Shopify use Cursor’s platform for AI-assisted programming.
Originally from Karachi, Asif represented Pakistan at the International Mathematical Olympiad from 2016 to 2018 before pursuing higher education at MIT. During his university years, he also launched an AI-powered search engine venture, reflecting his early focus on artificial intelligence innovation.
In 2026, Asif was included in the Forbes Billionaires list, becoming one of the youngest self-made billionaires in the rapidly expanding AI industry.
Cursor was founded by four co-founders: Sualeh Asif, Michael Truell, Aman Sanger, and Arvid Lunnemark.
