This New EV Startup Wants You To Configure A Motorcycle Like It’s From IKEA

Forget picking a paint color. ANY wants you choosing cargo doors, storage trays, and somewhere to put the dog.

Online bike configurators are usually pretty good tools for discovering just how quickly a reasonably priced bike can become unreasonably expensive. Pick a color, add some heated grips, click the luggage box that costs more than your first motorcycle, and congratulations, you’ve configured a BMW GS.

And now, a new Belgian EV startup by the name of ANY Mobility has apparently decided this process doesn’t involve nearly enough clicking.

ANY has opened the online configurator for its upcoming LUV1, and calling this thing customizable might be underselling it. Instead of simply picking colors and accessories, you’re effectively rearranging chunks of the motorcycle around what you plan to do with it. It’s less like speccing a motorcycle and more like wandering through IKEA deciding whether your weird Scandinavian shelving system needs another basket. Except this one does 62 miles per hour.

As we discussed a couple of months ago, the LUV1 is ANY’s attempt at creating what it calls a “Life Utility Vehicle,” essentially splitting the difference between an electric motorcycle, scooter, and tiny cargo vehicle. Its two-piece aluminum platform incorporates 120 liters of configurable storage, while an 11kW rear-hub motor gives it that 62-mile-per-hour top speed. Two swappable 6.5kWh batteries are said to deliver between 62 and 87 miles of range.

But the configurator is where ANY’s whole pitch starts making a lot more sense. You can choose an Urban or Cross front setup, Street or All-Road tires, different seat designs, three windshield arrangements, passenger hardware, top and side racks, and various internal trays, baskets, bags, and hooks.

Then we get to the doors, which is where things become even cooler. You can pick a conventional Standard Panel, a hinged Cargo Panel, an Open Frame, or something literally called a Pet Cage Panel. There’s also a Pet Bag available for the central storage area. So yes, while other motorcycle configurators are asking whether you’d prefer gloss black or slightly different gloss black, ANY is asking whether your motorcycle needs accommodations for the dog, cat, or maybe even both.

And that’s actually what makes the LUV1 worth paying attention to. Motorcycles are usually sold as relatively fixed categories. You buy a commuter, an adventure bike, a scooter, or something designed to haul stuff. ANY’s approach is to sell one basic platform that can be rearranged around whatever you’re doing that week. The company explicitly pitches the LUV1 toward commuters, families, businesses, and recreational riders rather than forcing each use case into a separate vehicle.

Of course, we’re still configuring a motorcycle that isn’t in production yet. ANY says the setups shown online remain indicative and could change, while production is currently targeted for late 2027. European pricing is expected to land somewhere between 7,000 and 10,000 euros (approximately $7,600 to $10,900) depending on configuration, and a 49 euro (approximately $53) reservation secures early access. So there’s still a considerable gap between playing digital motorcycle IKEA and putting one in your garage.

Still, ANY has at least built an unusually convincing demonstration of what it means by modular. Plenty of startups promise they’ll reinvent transportation. This one has given us a website where you can remove your bike’s cargo doors, fit trays, change its suspension setup, and install a crate for your dog. Now it just has to build the damn thing.
