Cross-border payments startup Taja surpasses 50,000 users across 7 African markets - Disrupt Africa

Pan-African fintech startup Taja has surpassed 50,000 users and is now processing millions of dollars in transaction volume each month, two years after launching its cross-border payments platform.

Launched in 2024, Taja has built a platform that allows individuals and businesses to send, receive, convert and spend money globally. It offers multi-currency wallets and accounts, international collections, cross-border payouts, real-time currency conversion, virtual cards and digital-asset settlement capabilities.

The startup is live in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Senegal, South Africa, Benin and Ivory Coast, connecting users to major global currencies and payment networks in the United Kingdom and United States.

“We built Taja because moving money across borders shouldn’t feel like navigating a labyrinth,” said David Orovwiroro, the startup’s CEO.

“Surpassing 50,000 users and processing millions of dollars in monthly transaction volume demonstrates the growing demand for accessible, borderless financial infrastructure. We remain committed to ensuring that African creators, freelancers and business owners have the financial tools they need to participate and compete in the global economy.”

The startup said it plans to continue expanding across Africa and into international markets, with a focus on strengthening its payment infrastructure.
